Equilibrium Constant

Another constant expression is the equilibrium constant. This is used to determine if the formation of products is favored or if the formation of reactants is favored. To start, you need a balanced equation. Secondly, you need the concentrations of materials in moles per liter. To determine the equilibrium constant, divide the product of the concentrations of the products by the product of the reactants. Each concentration is raised to a power equal to its coefficient. If the equilibrium constant is greater than 1, the formation of products is favored. If it less than 1, the formation of reactants is favored.
