CONTENTS
========
The installation package contains two files: setup.exe (the installer) and
FontViewer.txt (this file).

INSTALLING FONTVIEWER
=====================
Installing PictureSaver is simple: just run the setup.exe file, and follow
the directions on the screen.

Installed Files
---------------
The following files will be copied to the directory you select:

    FontViewer.exe   - the program
    FontViewer.txt   - this file
    FVHome - an internet shortcut to my home page
    uninsXXX.exe - uninstall file (XXX = 3 digit number assigned by the
                       installer; usually 000 but may be different in the event
                       of multiple installations or installations using the
                       same installer)
    uninsXXX.msg     - uninstall file
    uninsXXX.dat     - uninstall file

The setup program also creates icons for the Start menu.

UNINSTALLING FONTVIEWER
=======================
Though I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this :), FontViewer is
easy to uninstall: From the Start menu, select Settings -> Control Panel. From
the window that pops up, double-click Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down until
you find FontViewer 1.0, click it once to select it, then click the
Add/Remove button.

USING FONTVIEWER
================
FontViewer is really easy to use (honest!). Click the icon in your Start menu
to start it, and the main window is displayed. The box at the top contains all
of your installed fonts, displayed in its own font face (except for symbol-type
fonts, which are displayed in Arial). Click on a font to see it in the preview
window at the bottom.

The controls below the font box allow you to preview bold, italic, and
underlined versions of the fonts, or to change the size.

The two buttons to the left allow you to switch between screen and printer
fonts.

Under the device selection buttons, is a small button labelled "Map." This
brings up a character map for the selected font.

The filter button lets you trim down the list, if you're looking for a
particular type of font. It brings up a window allowing you to filter fonts by
family and pitch, and to exclude symbol type fonts.

A WORD OF WARNING: The font filtering depends on the family assigned by the
designer of the font. For this reason, some of the fonts that show up under
certain filtering conditions may appear arbitrary. This is not a bug in the
program, it merely reflects what was assigned by the font designer.

QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, TECH. SUPPORT
==================================
If you have any questions or comments, need technical support, want me to add
some cool feature to the program, or just want to tell me what a great and
wonderful person I am, send me an email at schappel@erols.com.

Enjoy!
