Purpose of the Program

The purpose of this program is to normalize and standardize MP3 files. If you often download these files, it will usually be done at different settings of loudness and of the equalizer. This program standardizes the setting so that you do not constantly have to change them whilst you listen to the music. In addition, the program also enables you to utilize the ID3 tags and rename the different songs with the help of the information contained in these tags. It is a utility to help you manage your growing MP3 library. 

Installation of the Program (Shareware Trial)

After download, the user has to install the program by clicking on the "run" item in the Windows Start Menu and finding the location of the downloaded program. On opening the program, the install routine will give the user a sequence of "prompts" and will create a link (VAAP INC) in the Windows Menu. There are options to start the program and also to uninstall. On installation, the first screen will ask the user whether he wants to continue unregistered. Clicking on that prompt will start the program for a 15 day trial evaluation.

Program  Set Up and Operation

To operate the program start it from the menu. The go to File and select "Preferences". In the CPU profile, select the type of processor of the computer on which the program runs. In the section "Output file match the input file profile", select the  Output File  bit rate and the Channel mode (default is 128 Kbit/second and Stereo. Then set the ID# Tag File Renaming. There you can rename the Album, Genre, Track Title, Track Artist/Performer and the Year of Recording. ou have also options to "Fill in Spaces in the Filename" and to "Remove the ID3 Tag after Renaming". Make your choices and then click "OK". Close these Windows. This has set up the parameters of the system.

To "normalize" your MP3 Files, click on "Add Files", which will bring up the file menu (You can also choose "Directory" which will then "normalize the files of a whole Directory). When you have found the MP3 files (the system will only recognize MP3 Files) click on open and that enters the file into the screen with a Status "Pending". The click on "Process" and that will process your file and give you the option of renaming the files. The processing goes through several routines, such as decompressing, Peak levels, Normalizing, encoding. You should note that these processes are very CPU intensive and you should not perform other operations while the system is doing these processes. There is also an option to remove files.

Program Status
