GullBlaster is a simple ball-and-paddle game, with a twist or ten. With a beach
ball as your only weapon, try to blast all the seagulls from the sky before
they blast you! Avoid falling gulls and gull bombs, and catch bonus eggs to
gain special abilities. Watch out for the Shoobees, who stroll along happily
feeding the gulls and causing them to drop even more bombs! 25 unique levels,
high score tracking.

REQUIREMENTS
------------
Windows 9x
DirectX 6.1* or later
4MB or more of video memory

* GullBlaster can be played with DirectX 5, however in-game music will be
  disabled.

You are expressly prohibited from distributing registration codes. Moreover,
you are granted the license to register GullBlaster only on computers for which
you are the primary user.

INSTALLATION
------------
To install GullBlaster, unzip gbsetup.zip into a temporary directory, then run
the setup.exe program and follow the instructions on the screen.

GAME PLAY
---------
Game play is simple. Use your mouse to guide your paddle back and forth along
the bottom of the screen, bouncing the ball(s) back up towards the gulls. When
all the gulls have been blasted by the ball, play proceeds to the next level.

When you hit a gull, it will fall towards the bottom of the screen. It may also
drop a bonus egg. Catch the bonus eggs, avoid the gulls. Note that armored
gulls will require multiple hits before they'll fall from the sky. Bonus eggs
will give you a random special ability, that may or may not help you in your
quest.

Gulls also periodically drop bombs. Avoid the bombs. 'Nuff said.

Every so often a Shoobee will come around, stirring up the gulls and generally
making your life harder. Shoobees feed the gulls, which causes them to drop
more bombs. Shoobees are obviously a form of genetic mutation from which
humanity must be protected, so whenever you see a Shoobee be sure to blast him
too!

There are a total of 25 unique GullBlaster levels available to registered users
(5 for unregistered users). But if you've mastered the game and made it through
all of them, don't despair! After the last level has been played, GullBlaster
will continue, randomly altering previous levels to keep the game fresh and
challenging.

LEVEL PACKS
-----------
Level packs can be installed by moving the level pack (.gbk or .gbl file) into
the GullBlaster directory. In the case of .gbl files, the .jpg backgrounds must
also be located in the GullBlaster directory. Nothing else is required.

When multiple level packs exist, GullBlaster will request which one you want to
play prior to starting the game. Only one level pack can be played per game.

MIDI JUKEBOX
------------
GullBlaster supports a "jukebox" mode, which starts a new midi file at the
beginning of each level. Simply copy the .mid or .rmi file(s) into the
GullBlaster directory, and GullBlaster will automatically start using them.

REGISTRATION
------------
The shareware version of GullBlaster is fully playable for an unlimited amount
of time, and allows you to play the first eight levels -- and even beyond eight
levels through the magic of the level randomizer. For a $10 registration fee,
all 25 GullBlaster become available, along with built-in support for extra
level packs when they become available.
