Thank you for trying BasketBall 1996. This is a text based game in which
YOU(the Player) choose your team and players as well as the computer's team
and players and play a simulated game of HOOPS.

System Requirements are basic:

Any 386-based PC
4MB RAM(recommended-will run on 2)
Windows 3.x or higher
Visual Basic 300 dll(vb300.dll)-which I have included in the zip file. If
you need it, simply move it to your C:\Windows\Sytem directory.

This is the first version of BasketBall 1996. I wrote it mainly because,
when I was a kid, my friends and I used to play a dice game of Basketball
and kept the statistics on paper. We would play season after season just
to pass time. Though it was a simple game, we had some pretty exciting
times playing it. With this little program, I(you) can now play my(your)
little games and not have to use a pad of paper to keep statistics. I have
also made the game a little more complicated in terms of variablity and
statistical accuracy. The statistics come out to be very much like those
of a five man team in the NBA. By purchasing this version of BasketBall
1996, you will be entitled to any future upgrades that come along. I plan
to incorporate Substitutions, Fouls, Saved Statistics and Seasons, as well
as user-input player characteristics.

In this game you are allowed to drive to the left, the right, down the
middle, or attempt a three-pointer. These choices are critical to the
statistical development of your players. There are patterns that develop
after a period of time which you will become familiar with. Here are a
couple of hints:

1) Taking a three-pointer may get you 3 points, but you may take more of
a chance on getting burned and you don't make nearly as many three
point attempts as you do two-pointers.

2) Driving down the middle gives the Center and Power Forward more of a
chance to score. Watch out for getting blocked though!

3) Driving right is where your shooting guard and small forward like
to take control of the game. This is also a nice way to get the
    ball stripped though.

4) Driving Left is sort of the "standard" offense, where each player
has a more equal chance of scoring.

These are just a couple of the nuances you may find. Some players pile
up assists when you do one thing, others pile up blocks and steals(watch
out for the computer). This game is meant for pure enjoyment. Feel free
to give it to any friends or fellow sports fans. If you believe that this
product is worthwhile and that you will be using it a lot, please feel
free to send $5.00 to:
