Installation
------------

The program can be installed onto your hard disk by running INSTALL.EXE.
You will be asked onto which drive and in which directory you want to have
the files installed. KFCD requires about 500 kBytes of disk space (worst
case).

We recommend that you use the default directory name suggested by INSTALL
because this simplifies installation of the Compulsory library as well as
other versions of KiteFlight 2.X.

All newly created subdirectories contain a FILES.TXT or FILES_.TXT file
containing a brief description of all files in those directories.
This can help you decide whether any of the files can be deleted (e.g. in
order to save hard disk space) or if you need to uninstall KiteFlight.

Non-demo version
----------------

The commercial versions of KiteFlight are available on a floppy disk
("Kite 2.0") sold through many kite stores and some book stores and
kite magazines like KiteLines Magazine and DRACHEN Magazin.
The commercial floppy is sold as a 3.5" diskette in a CD package and includes:

kfc.exe	- the non-demo counterpart of KFCD which can handle longer
    	      	  KF1 kite control files
kf.exe	- a version with a windowing user interface with mouse
                  support, pull-down menus, a built-in editor, extensive
    	          context sensitive on-line help, etc.
kf32.exe - an advanced version of kf.exe for 80386 and higher PCs

The floppy also contains programs by Peter Ruinard (peru@euronet.nl):

plot.exe - prints actual size templates for many kites from the
Stunt Kites I and II books.
sputnik.exe - calculates custom sparless kites based on the designs
in Stunt Kites and Stunt Kites II.

The Plot and Sputnik programs form an appendix to the books by Servaas van
der Horst and Nop Velthuizen:

'Stunt Kites to Make and Fly'
THOTH Publishers, 1991, ISBN 90-6868-035-8 (English version).
The book is also available in a Dutch version.

'Stunt Kites II: New Designs, Buggies and Boats'
THOTH Publishers, June 1994, ISBN 90-6868-085-4 (English version).
The book is also available in a German, French and Dutch version.

============================================================================

Some important remarks about this particular release of KiteFlight:

 (1) KiteFlight 2.0 is a major new release. It incorporates new speed
control and synchronisation capabilities. For long routines, the
current segment number is shown at the bottom of the screen (just
like a CD player displays a track number). The commercial version
is sold on a (full) High-Density diskette. Previous versions were
sold on a DD (720 KB) diskette.

 (2) Although KiteFlight 2.0 can run the "old" compulsory library
(COMPUL10.ZIP) we recommend upgrading to the newer COMPUL22.ZIP
which incorporates many new routines and also utilities various
     new KiteFlight 2.0 features.

 (3) The directory structure created by Install.exe may seem overkill for
a small program like KFCD. But there is a method behind this madness:
The extra directory levels allow the installation of KFCD within
an existing installation of the (commercial) Kite 2.0 diskette and
vice versa. Similarly, version 2.2 of the Compulsory library
(COMPUL22.ZIP) installs by default into the same directory tree.
