Dave, I want to appologize to George Pocock if he is the inventor of the buggy. I always trie to be vigilent and give credit to people who do something. You can read in Cerf-Volant Passion (a French kite magazine): "Don't say "buggy" but "char a cerf-volant". "Buggy" is Peter Lynn's trade mark, the inventor of the... char a cerf-volant". (Ces fous tractes par le vent, Cerf-Volant Passion, sept./oct. 1994, p.60). Let say: The Peel is a foil design by Peter Lynn from New Zealand. The Peel is a very powerful 2-lines kites, it's the reference for buggying and kite-sailing because Peter Lynn is one of the best buggier of the world, and probably the most "crazy". Pocock did his thing in the 1820's, and he did indeed use a buggy--of the (normally) horse-drawn variety. I find it quite surprising that Peter Lynn could have trademarked a word which has been in common usage in the English language for several hundred years--perhaps I'll trademark the word "wheel" and get those pesky automobile manufacturers to change their advertisements!
