The grand ascension was amazing! I was there sunday only, (because my festival faq didn't mention the night fly on friday night at all, :( and the from: line printed on a different page than the until: line.) I rushed out sunday morning at 7:30am to find freezing temperatures and seemingly gale force winds. By the time I went back to the hotel, ate breakfast and checked out, the sun had warmed up the breezes. It was GLORIOUS to see so many kites and so many colors and so many people. We saw many demos. A 90' windsock, (which defies belief!) and a 150' dragon kite in the likeness of a jack in the box. Too cool! I flew my double-french, my King of the Wind Delta, my 13' DC and both hatas and a smallish dragon. Sadly to say, with all that money in the sky, the only kites anyone commented on were the $14.95 Windmill Nagasaki Hatas from Into the Wind. What can you do? I have to say that for me the high point was the grand ascension. Although the red white and blue trains that were flown were spectacular. Well worth the travel time and the bad crash my 13' DC took. :) Now for the Chicago Skyliners June 8th-9th..... PS-Congratulations, again, Wayne for taking 1st in the individual intermediates. This would be a small correction. June 9 through 11 is the Chicago Stunt Kite Festival. In July is the South Suburban Fest. In September, the Chicagoland Skyliners present Sky Circus. Did I mention that Martin Lester will be there? = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 24 May 1995 06:34:43 -1000 From: Chlebo@aol.com Message-Id: <950524123442_10569558@aol.com> Organization: Harvard University Office of Information Technology Subject: Re: My first Festival - Grand Haven sent by cbush@orion.it.luc.edu: GLSKC glowing review deleted... >PS-Congratulations, again, Wayne for taking 1st in the >individual >intermediates. WTG, Kite Harbor! Thanks! But I didn't win :( Due to a mental lapse on the field in the final fly (for those not there, IIP was held with two heats) I placed 8th of twenty in IIP. The winner was Russ Faulk, another Chicagoland flyer, in his first competition I beleive, way to go Russ! However, my IPB team "Windy City Shear" took first! Quite rewarding for a first ballet! (Harry Larsen was the other essential half!) Chicagoland flyers really showed there stuff by taking many of the top places in a lot of the categories, keep 'em flyin'! As for a Kite Harbor victory it definately was! Anyone reading this please check out the post on the new store!
