Today for me was one of them. Living in Auckland, New Zealand, today (Monday) is a public holiday - Aucklands Annivesary Day and yaght regatta. So with the wife ( and some kites in the boot ) off we go for a drive. Our travels took us around the waterfront, to find a harbour filled with yaghts of all sizes. We decided to visit Bastion Point, a public park set on a headland, projecting into the harbour. Driving to the park, we found that cars were permitted on the lawn, we soon found a spot overlooking the harbour, and parked near a tree to take advantage of the shade. 50 yards away a jazz band added to the festivities. The harbour a panorama of yaghts including some old two masted ketches, a three masted schooner, plus hundreds of yaghts of all sizes. The wind of about 10 knots had blown the light cloud into streaks like brush strokes of an artists painting. To this delightful scene, I thought time to add a couple of kites:-) An almost vintage roller flew perfect above, its line at a steep 75 degree angle, it happlily flew for the next four hours tied to back of the car (thats why they put those shipping loop thingies below your back bumper - ideal for anchoring kites). A 6 foot Delta with a 60 foot tail was anchored to a nearby tree. With a couple of deck chairs in the shade of a tree, plus a picnic lunch, was a relaxing day to remember. regards, Bruce. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
