Subject: KAPWA Foundation Information Bulletin

I just received a long-awaited 'thing' from the KAPWA Foundation. It
mentions the indifference on the part of unnamed [potential] organizers
who drag their feet. I'm curious if anyone knows the who/what/where
of this? I was *REALLY* looking forward to being able to attend some
kind of a KAP'er event in NY City [despite the fact it would be in NY
City <g>] to commemorate this in '95. It it now apparent that this is
not to be.

{I am of course referring to the centenary of the first KAP's taken by
Mr. William Eddy in 1895.}

Also, the LAST issue of KAPWA News mentioned a bit of a 'falling out'
between KAPWA and KiteLines magazine over KiteLines not publishing some
KAPWA photos due to them having been printed previously. I don't have
the KAPWA issue in front of me, so I can't quote it exactly. What was
THAT all about?

The recent history of KAPWA is a somewhat long story. I will pass
your posting on to the folks at Kite Lines and offer then the
opportunity to reply. It would not surpise me if the chose not to
reply, as these may be matters not worth sharing.

In any case, KAPWA appears to be having its own internal problems
that go more to the core. Kite Lines has nothing to do with these
problems.

It may still come off--but Michel got frustrated when the US kiting
community didn't rise up with huzzahs when he proposed it three years in
advance. I tried to explain to him that yank kitefliers can't possibly
plan that far ahead, but he's still grumbling.

The newly formed AKA KAP committee may take that commemoration on as a
potential get-together, but since we're just forming (following KAPWA's
demise), that hasn't been considered yet.

Well, I know Valerie better than I know Michel, but they're both, shall we
say, inclined to occasional temperament. He's been pretty anal about the
copyrights of everything in KAPWA News, so I'm not sure why he should be
offended if Val wants her stuff to be previously unpublished.

Join AKA, Allan. we got a lotta KAP stuff coming down soon. And I can't
find any Allans in Miami in my DB.

My wife has *FINALLY* graduated from school and will soon be getting a job.
That being the case, she won't mind me blowing some money to join AKA (she's
not quite the kite enthusiast that I am). And thanks for the info. (which
I didn't quote) on the KAPWA/KiteLines thing. I am somewhat 'out of the
loop' here, and I'd just like to know what's really going on.

P.S. I finally edited my 'signature file' to include my last name. But
I still prefer to go by 'Kiteman', than my real name. Introverts are like
that, you know.... <g>
