Just received a call from Keith Anderson who hosted the Galveston Buggie Or Die weekend in Galveston, TX, Thanksgiving weekend. He said they had a wonderful time, and that their going to make it an annual event. Yes, with all the discussion of "RULES" and "Olympics" (haha) Keith and a group of buggier kiters and spectators set out on Galveston Beach. He said the weather Friday was a bit nasty. They spend most of the day under shelter. Dick and Gail Bell were out there just long enough to get Gail hooked on buggies. The Onstaut [sp] family was out there with their buggies as well as guests from Oklahoma. Keith said this was a lot of fun. No rules no competition just outright fun. He said there was one or two confrontations with a kiter and an automobile but I think the driver was George Forman. (not) Keith also got some inspiring news the day after he came off of a one week vacation. It seems that the retired Ron Reich has a daughter who lives in Beaumont, TX. (for you foreigners on the East Coast that's pronounced Bow mount.) Any way seems he called Terry Crumpler and asked if he wanted to go out to the beach and fly a few kites. Terry got a hold of Keith and a few others and Ron ran them through some team flying basics. Now that probably doesn't mean the next "World Cup" champs or anything like that but hey, who knows. Keith is going to send Ron the SWSKC schedule so maybe we might see him at one of the events soon.
