I am going to FAN0 for the first time in my life this year. I really look forward to it. All the Germans are so nice people, none of them would even think of driving over me in their big Audis I am told. All of them try to drive as little on the beach as possible, and never down near the waterline where I will be. I really want to bring a parachute with me, but I can't figure out what size I should ask for. You know, a parachute is real fun when it works. If it's too small, the beach comes up to You way too fast! Also need to learn a little more about the lines. I think they come in both 4-lines and 8-lines versions. I always think that more lines is better, but then again it's more lines that can do wrong at the critical time. If You can help me making this big decision, please write. BTW: I am 25 cm high and weights 160 gr. -Finn (the Fearless) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 6 Jun 1995 12:00:16 -1000 From: salanne@convex.csc.FI (Simo Salanne) Message-Id: <3r2j5g$n27@pobox.csc.fi> Organization: STACK Finland Subject: Re: Finn going to FAN0 - What size parachute? Then the diameter of the parachute should be: 112 / 102 / 80 cm. We had planned to be in Verdun for our first action, but did not have proper gear. Ilene Atkins made us up some 8 line 'chutes, and Michael Graves built us a big line climber. In Verdun we each managed four jumps, though never quite managing to get the attention of the announcer. Guess he had larger matters in mind. The wind was up, so we jumped from 125'. With our 80cm 'chutes we had about 10 seconds aloft, and just traversed the flying field (approx) 300'. We vary from 100 to 130g each, in full pack.
