Attended by nearly 1,500 specatators and 300 kite flyers, this year's festival was deemed a fine success. Primarily a festival for kids, it is well attended by adults as well. Albertson's and Round Table Pizza sponsor the event with a good deal of assistance from the Boise Recreations Dept., local print and broadcast media, and the KGB (kite group of boise) lending a hand to cover such items as safety, organization, judging, and kite repair. The weather was cooperative in that the winds blew (12-18mph all day), sunshine and a few clouds, and an air temperature that could have been a little warmer. As a local event with little competition that would interest those from outside Idaho, it is gaining in popularity with folks coming from Montana, N. Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada. It is hoped that a more serious look at regional competition will produce an event that could be a stopover for AKA competitors. We are in the development stages of such and will report any positive results here. If you are ever in or around Boise in March, please plan on attending our kite festival. It is great to see those folks who travel into our area for any reason, but even more exciting when they bring kites and fly in the "Land of Minor Winds." = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
