The talk of ai npc's et al reminds me of something I found recently on
the net and found quite interesting. It's a hypertext database system
being worked on by some people in the Canadian Dept. of Communications,
which has also been used in non-database ways. You can reach it at:

C.H.A.T. system (experimental hypertext):
telnet,debra.doc.ca  (192.16.212.15)
login as "chat"
Pick "Maur" for a conversation with a dragon,
     "Alice" for a conversation with, well, Alice.
There are also some boring ;) databases available.

Oh yeah, and there's a comments survey to fill out when you're done.

It _is_ possible to get out of the Maur scenario alive, btw. ;)
