			ARUN - README

Alan is a special purpose computer language for creating text
adventures, also known as interactive fiction. This archive contains
only the interpreter.

If this version of the interpreter can not run the game, use

	<interpreter name> -d <game>

to get information about the version of the compiled game. You can
possibly retrieve a version that runs it from the download page at the
Alan Home Pages at:

	http://welcome.to/alan-if

Best thing is of course to recompile the game if you can!

NOTE1: You may need to rename the program to make it work right. The name
of the Windows Glk interpreter is "winarun".

This Glk port was done by Joe Mason <jcmason@uwaterloo.ca>, with help
from Iain Merrick and Stephen Griffiths

NOTE2: Complete distribution and documentation packages of the latest
version are available from the web site or from the Interactive
Fiction Archives (and its mirrors) at

	ftp.gmd.de:/if-archive/programming/alan

NOTE3: There is currently no way to pass options other than the name of the
game file to the Windows version of the interpreter. This bug should be f
ixed in the next release.

Thanks for your interest and have much fun!
