	(THE CITY)

		by Sam Barlow

		An interactive short-experience

for the 1998 International Interactive Fiction Competition

--------FEATURES SPECIFIC TO THIS GAME:

No UNDO^, SAVE, RESTORE, VERBOSE, or BRIEF verbs
Extended question-asking: various WHY, WHERE, WHO, WHAT allowed*
(usual Ask, Tell, Show, Give still in operation)
No status line, initial game banner or enboldened location names
(this is a feature, not a bug)

^ Though Interpreter-Undos still work (*damn*)

	* Examples of questions:

		John, what is love
		God, why am I here
		Stranger, who are you
What is the shiny metal thing on the end of the rod
		Where are my glasses
		Wife, where is my dinner

NB#1: Do not use question marks in questions
	----
NB#2: If you ever wonder: there *is* an "ending" to the game
	----

--------RELEASE INFO:

This is version 2 of "The City" for the International-IF-Competition
1998. (c) Sam Barlow 1998. It is freely distributable so long as it
	remains un-changed

Version 1 was very similar, but was *eaten* by my computer. Version 2
	is a re-construction, and hopefully 99% identical

Thankyou for playing, hope you enjoy yourself and don't forget

P.S. This game has received no playtesting. I put aside loads of time to do this
but several things got in the way and I never did find the time to get the
game done sooner. I am only pointing this out so that if anyone finds
any awful bugs I can be publicly crucified in the name of playtesting and
	will maybe learn a lesson.
