John:
My experience with inexpensive mechanical KVM switches is that the keyboard
itself needs to be reset. If nothing shows up when I'm typing after changing
systems I switch between systems a couple of times. When the keyboard lights
go on and off the keyboard is reset and everything's OK. Look for KVM
switches with a reset button (www.harbourtownsales.com had them for about
$25, the last time I looked).
