.LP
To output a plot in any form, at least one plot must have been previously
created and plotted using the "Input File" or "Input Function" pane
of the "Plot" subform, and must be
displayed on the screen when you select the output option.
With the selections on the "LN03" pane of the "Output" subform, one can:
.IP (1)
Send the xprism workspace directly to an available LN03 printer
.IP (2)
Create a file, which is formatted in LN03 for a LN03 printer, to send
to the printer with an "% lpr -Pxxxx filename" command, where "xxxx" is the
name of the LN03 printer, and "filename" is the name of the file output,
describing a (single) plot.
.LP
The LN03 pane of the Output subform is simply a convenient user interface
to "vln03". If desired, one might replicate the operation of this pane
by saving the xprism workspace as a screen dump (see the help provided on the
"Files" pane of the Output subform), and then sending the screen dump to
the LN03 printer using "vln03". Note that ONLY RASTER OUTPUT is available
with LN03. Vector Output is not available.
.LP
The logical selection labeled "invert" is normally *off* for use with
"vln03". This results in a black outline on a white background. If turned
on, this option will cause the workspace to come out as a white outline on
a black background.
.LP
If one wishes to send the xprism workspace directly to an available LN03
printer, fill in the "Printer" parameter box with the name of your local
LN03 printer. When the user hits return, the
workspace will be sent straight to the specified printer.
On the other hand, one may not have direct access to an LN03 printer, but may
desire to use one on another system, for example. To do this, one might first
fill in the "Filename" parameter box with the name of a file to save the
workspace in. When the user hits return, the workspace is saved in LN03
format in the named file. This file may then be ftp'ed,
mailed, etc. to the computer which is connected to the desired LN03
printer, and then sent to that printer with a simple "lpr " command.
