EDITING UIS: STRINGS AND COMMENT TEXT

A string input, "-s" should be used whenever an ASCII string
is needed as an input parameter. Comment text is just used
to put additional information on the pane to aid the user in
understanding what to do and does not affect the command
     line user interface.

To add a new string item in your pane, click on the "STRING
VALUE" button. This will pop-up a list of the -s template
item that you can add. Click on the item in the list that
you want. Once you have done this, you can begin editing
the fields in the bottom two thirds of the composer form.

If you have an existing -s item, and wish to add another,
you have the option of copying an existing item or adding a
new one. To add a new item, just click on the "STRING
VALUE" button. The list that pops up will have a new tem-
plate item as the last entry on the list.

If you wish to copy an existing item, click on the "COPY"
button. This will give you a list of all items on the pane
that you are editing. Select the -s line in the list that
you wish to copy. A new line will be created with a posi-
tion that is below the selected item.

After a -s line is selected, edit the fields in the composer
form to meet your requirements. The fields both determine
the appearance of the graphical user interface (the pane)
and the command line user interface. Though you can immedi-
ately view the pane, ghostwriter must be run before you can
examine the command line user interface.

There are several conventions to follow for the string input
parameters. They should be positioned below any input/output
files in the pane that you are editing. The variable or
command line argument flag should usually be as short as
     possible, single characters are preferred.

     NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
The "Live" option field should not be used for cantata pane
     files.
