     EDITING UIS: GROUPS OF ITEMS

Often it is desirable to group items so that the user must
choose between a set of default values (toggle) or choose
one of several possible values or types of values (mutually
exclusive). These groupings of input/output files, numeric
inputs, logical inputs and string inputs is provided by the
"TOGGLE GROUP" and "MUT EXC GROUP" buttons. Toggles are
discussed first, then mutual exclusion. Moe complete docu-
mentation is available in the KHOROS Manual Volume II,
Chapter 2 on User Interface Specifications.

Before you can create a toggle of items, those items must
first be created. A toggle only works between similar
items, that is you can toggle between sets of -I, -O, -i,
-f, -l, or -s items, but these items can not be mixed within
one toggle. Once you have created the items that you wish
to toggle between, click on the "TOGGLE GROUP" button. This
will pop a list of -T or toggle items. If there are
currently no other toggle items, a template item will be
displayed. Selecting this item will pop up another list,
pick the type of item that you would like to toggle. This
will then pop up another list of possible items of that
type. At this point you can select as many items as you
wish to toggle. Next a list of selected items is provided,
click on the item that you would like to be the default
     value.

The position of the -T line determines the placement of all
items within the toggle group. This will usually require
you to edit the positions of the items that were placed in
the toggle. In other words, as soon as you put an item
inside of a toggle group, its position will change.

Before you can create a group of mutually exclusive items,
those items must first be created. A mutually exclusive
group works between any mixture of user interface items,
     that is any of -I, -O, -i, -f, -l, or -s items. Once you
have created the items that you wish to group, click on the
"MUT EXC GROUP" button. This will pop a list of -C or mutu-
ally exclusive items. If there are currently no other -C
items, a template item will be displayed. Selecting this
item will pop a list of all possible items that you may want
to include in the mutually exclusive group. At this point
you can select as many items as you wish to group. Next a
list of the selected items is provided, click on the item
that you would like to be the default value.

There is no explicit position for a -C line, so the place-
ment of the items within the group is not affected. But, it
is best if you place items in a -C group close together.
