     WORKSPACE FILE UTILITIES

This subform allows the user to save and restore workspaces
and set the temporary file directory.

     USAGE

Options on this subform allow the user to save an entire
workspace of glyphs and connections. The "execution state"
of the workspace, as represented by the temporary files con-
taining output from glyphs may also be saved. These may
then be restored later for continued use by the programmer.

     COMPRESS Saved Workspace File
When toggled `Yes', this will compress the workspace
files when they are saved. This significantly reduces
the amount of disk space needed to save all the files.

     Output Filename
Before saving a workspace, a filename must be typed in
or selected from the "browser" (see `Input Filename'
below). Hitting a carriage return in the `Output
Filename' box will save all the information recorded in
the current workspace under the specified output
filename. You will be asked whether you also wish to
save the temporary files associated with the workspace.
If not, the flow graph must be re-executed to rebuild
these files when the workspace is restored at a later
          time.

     Input Filename
To restore a previously saved workspace, the name of
the file must either be typed in or alternately, click-
ing on the `Input Filename' prompt will bring up a
"browser" containing a list of files in the current
directory. A filename may be selected from the browser
by clicking on the desired name. A different directory
may be accessed either by clicking on a subdirectory
name (or ../ to back up) or by typing it in directly in
the space at the bottom of the browser.

Hitting a carriage return in the `Input Filename' box
will retrieve the workspace contained in the indicated
input filename and place its contents in the current
workspace. If the intermediate temporary files associ-
ated with the workspace were also saved, these will be
          restored automatically with the workspace.

     UIS Filename
The name of the file must be typed in or selected with
the browser to read in a User Interface Specification
(UIS) prototype. The `UIS Filename' input is used to
read in pane files created using composer or preview.
This allows the immediate importing of a program or set
of programs into cantata with out editing cantata's UIS
          file.

Hitting a carriage return in the `UIS Filename' box
will bring the programs in in the form of glyphed sub-
          forms.
