     MORPHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS

From a general scientific perspective, the word MORPHOLOGY
refers to the study of form and structure.

The morphological approach is generally based upon the
analysis of a two-valued image in terms of some predeter-
mined geometric shape known as a structuring element (or
morphological kernel). Essentially, the manner in which the
structuring element fits into the image is studied.

The morphological operations can be employed for many pur-
poses, including edge detection, segmentation, enhancement
     and noise removal of images.

     SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ROUTINES

Create Kernel - Customize a morphological kernel via
                         keyboard entry.

     Rotate 180 - Compute a 180 degrees rotation of a mor-
                         phological kernel.

Erosion - Erode a binary image by a structuring
                         element.

Dilation - Dilate a binary image by a structuring
                         element.

     Conditional Dilation -
Conditionally dilate a binary image by a
                         structuring element.

Opening - Compute the opening of an image by a
                         structuring element.

Closing - Compute the closing of an image by a
                         structuring element.

Skeletonization - Compute the skeletonization of a binary
                         BYTE image.

Edge Extraction - Morphological edge extraction for a
                         binary BYTE image.

Region Growing - Dilate a binary image region by a single
                         pixel.
