.LP
The Khoros processing programs are typically accessed by using
the \fIsubform buttons\fP which are grouped under general categories
in menus across
the top of the master form. Each subform contains the information
for a group of related processing programs available from the Khoros
libraries. (Alternately, programs may be selected directly by name
using the `ROUTINES' action button.)
.LP
There are both \fIsubform buttons\fP, which when selected give direct
access to a subform and there are \fIsubform menu buttons\fP, which
give you access to a group of subforms via a pull-down menu. The default
\fBcantata\fP workspace uses all subform menu buttons.
.IP "Subform Buttons" 5
Clicking the mouse on a subform button selects the corresponding
subform which then appears in the workspace window, or alternatively
an outline of the subform will appear for interactive placement if
your window manager does not auto place.
The subform \fIguide pane\fP (see below) lists the programs available
on that subform.
.IP "Subform Menu Buttons" 5
The menu buttons on the top of the master form (for example, `INPUT
SOURCES') provide a pull-down menu of related subforms. To use, position
the mouse cursor on the category of interest, then press and hold the
mouse key. The menu of subforms will "drop down" beneath the
button. A specific subform is selected by sliding the mouse down
until the desired title is highlighted, then releasing the mouse button.
The corresponding subform of programs will then appear.
.IP "Guide Panes" 5
The \fIguide pane\fP on the left of the subforms presents the user with a
choice of the available programs on that subform. Selecting a program,
presents the \fIpane\fP section (to the right) containing information for
that specific program. Once a program has been chosen and its parameters
specified, the subform must be "glyphed" so that it may be connected in a
program flow graph.
.LP
Each subform contains `HELP' which provides additional documentation on
subform usage, as well as a general description of the programs on
that subform and specific help for each program.

EXTENDING CANTATA
.LP
\fBCantata\fP is designed to be easily extended into other processing domains.
A user can add new programs by editing the User Interface Specification
file that specifies \fBcantata\fP's subforms. Please consult Volume II of
the Khoros Programmer's Manual for more information.
