Dump this message into a file and try running vm-visit-folder on it.

For me, it goes into an infinite garbage collection loop.

3dfx might not make a bad investment; they seem to be a good strategic
position in the 3D graphics marketplace...

Um, the initial public offering price was $11 dollars. Unless you are
real tight with an investment banker, you aren't going to get a piece
of that action. The opening value of 3Dfx on the NASDAQ was 13 1/4.

So you could have bought 377 shares with $5000 (at 13 1/4). If you
managed to sell them at 14 3/8 (good luck, they were only worth that
for about 5 minutes yesterday and on top of that I think 14 3/8 was
the asking price not the bidding price) that means you would have made
about $425 dollars. Assuming a minimum thirty dollar commission you
would have made about $395 dollars. Thats 7.8% which isn't bad, but
its far from the 20% you were claiming.

If you were unlucky enough to jump on the bandwagon in the afternoon
and buy $5000 worth at 13 3/4 and sell at what was pretty much the
ceiling for the day ($14/share) you would have made $60 dollars (or
1.2% return).

Its true that TDFX (3Dfx) was a an interesting stock to be trading in
yesterday, but I just don't want everybody to run out and buy it at
$14 thinking they'll be the next Bill Gates tomorrow. Its a stock
like any other stock with a modest first day and thats about it.
