I would argue against making a standard definition for write-region
because it is a dangerous function.  (I find disabling standard
bindings by default like narrow-to-region somewhat strange).

?  To name one example, there aren't enough lifetimes to convince me
that the standard binding for `C-x l' is superior to `find-library'.
