It may be a recent invention in XEmacs, but it's been in Emacs for
quite some time, IIRC.

Are you sure we all agree that `M-g' is no longer bound to
`goto-line'?  Then line 481 of `prim/keydefs.el' looks pretty strange
to me.

Someone will have to make a decision what we want `M-g' to run and
stick to it, no matter what Emacs compatibility says.  This is as
basic as it can get.
