That would be nice, but from what Per is saying it sounds like that
would be very difficult (I hesitate to say impossible, this being
Emacs and all).

Lest you think that's a ridiculous number, my .xemacs-options sets
various attributes of 103 faces.  As a result, startup time using this
setup is, uh, not insignificant.  That's one reason I'd like to try
migrating to custom.
