Not for 19.15 there isn't.  Pick one or the other.

Nope, it's an XEmacs issue.  I suppose XEmacs should take care to drop
special permissions before spawning subprocesses, but that ignores the
fact that you shouldn't make it sgid in the first place.  Where is the 
documentation with this bad advice?

In the meantime, I'd advise you to remove the sgid bit on XEmacs.
