Has anyone actually tried setting *try-oblique-before-italic-fonts* to
t? It doesn't work here. I even changed the defvar and re-bytecompiled
the file, but it still didn't work. The italic fonts are used whatever
I do.

In the mean time, I'll be setting Emacs.italic.attributeFont in my
.Xdefaults. (Btw, setting bold-italic.anything still doesn't work)
