Subject: VM or XEmacs?
Reply-To: turner@lanl.gov

[Hoping Kyle is out there. Didn't want to post to the newsgroup since
 this may be XEmacs.]

I've been noticing this for a while, but have held off saying anything
until I could check out the 19.15 betas, esp. the new focus-follows-mouse
variable.

And I don't know if VM or XEmacs is at fault, if either.

This will make the most sense to folks using VM, esp. virtual folders.

o Create a virtual folder of some sort -> new frame pops up with
  summary, etc. of appropriate msgs.

o Mark all msgs. in the virtual folder.

o Do M N (next command uses marks), and do something to cause all the
messages to be deleted (either delete them outright or save them to
  another folder or whatever).

o Now expunge (#). All the msgs. in the virtual folder go away (which
  is correct).

o Now quit (q) from the virtual folder -> OOPS, the frame with the
real folder goes away, even though the mouse is still in the frame
with the virtual folder, and you're left with only the frame
  containing the empty virtual folder.

I know I'm slow, but it didn't take me too long to figure out that the
correct thing to do is quit first and expunge from the real folder.
But still, is there any way that the q after expunging could do what
most would expect and quit from the virtual rather than the real
folder?

This happens with 19.14 as well as 19.15-b4, and I tried setting
focus-follows-mouse to t, but no change (I do use focus follows mouse
in my window mgr, CDE). The only difference is that with f-f-m nil,
the cursor goes hollow after expunging, while with it t it stays solid.
