I fetched the whole tarball, created a directory i53-r4k in
xemacs-19.15-b98, cd'd to it and did a
../configure --site-includes=/usr/local/include
--site-libraries=/usr/local/lib --debug=no --error-checking=none

Configured for `mips-sgi-irix5.3'.

Where should the build process find the source code? /local/ducdev/local/projects/emacs/beta/xemacs-19.15-b98
What installation prefix should install use? /usr/local
What operating system and machine description files should XEmacs use?
        `s/irix5-3.h' and `m/iris4d.h'
What compiler should XEmacs be built with? cc -g
Should XEmacs use the GNU version of malloc? yes
Should XEmacs use the relocating allocator for buffers? yes
What window system should XEmacs use? x11
  Additional header files: /usr/local/include
  Additional libraries: /usr/local/lib

First time through the build process did this,

Finding pointers to doc strings...
Finding pointers to doc strings...done
Loading site-init...
Dumping under names xemacs and emacs-19.15-xemacs-beta98

**** Pure Lisp storage exhausted!
        Purespace usage: 626984 of 625000
****

Then went on to

XEmacs: Pure size adjusted, will restart `make'
make[1]: [xemacs] Error 1 (ignored)

Loading site-load...
Finding pointers to doc strings...
Finding pointers to doc strings...done
Loading site-init...
Dumping under names xemacs and emacs-19.15-xemacs-beta98
Purespace usage: 626880 of 626984 (100%).

Look at that, 14 bytes wasted :-)

I still have the problem of the tm-xxxx files not being copied from
lib-src to i53-r4k/lib-src.

I too wish the *compilation* buffer didn't get its' output parsed until
you actually ask it to next-error.

No other problems so far.

I like the new splash screen and (display-time).
