I'll have Gnus 5.4.16 switch the summary horizontal scrollbar off by
default, and let `gnus-xmas-force-redisplay' be nil by default.  This
seems to do the right thing for me -- let me know if you still see the
point-bouncing-off-the-final-article thing after it's been released.

The horizontal scrollbar can be kinda useful in the summary buffer,
though.
