I copied that to http://www.stat.sc.edu/~rossini/images/test.png 
and read it into XEmacs via W3 (on the page:
	http://www.stat.sc.edu/~rossini/images/
)

It's not broken, at least in W3... (this is 3.0.57, XEmacs 20.0, with
mule support, built under X11R6.3)
