If you have a better idea, I'm all ears at this point.  The idea of
switching to FSF Emacs man was that it had certain bugs fixed and did
some things better, but required only a /little/ patching up to get
back all the features we had originally.  It doesn't look like that
now.

I'm having problems now getting it to run (I didn't when I initially
tried it several months ago).
