This is identical to a crash I can reliably duplicate locally with a
Gnus .overview file, though the tracebacks are different.  Please try
to find the specific file Gnus was rendering when the crash occurred.
If this crash is similar to the one I found, all it will require to
duplicate the crash is to load it into a buffer.  Since you're on a
Sun, the tracebacks ought to be more helpful for Martin in tracking
this one down.
