He has, and I am well aware of the effort spent to date getting the
code to the state it is in.  I am also aware of the fact that some
people like the current behavior.  That is why I have hid all the
changes I've made to date behind a non-defaulted variable.

Um, it's not exactly the case that we have any alternative at this
point.  It's a pity that Sun dropped SunView just when they had about
gotten it right, but that's a bridge long since crossed. :-(
