I tried Karl's updated cperl mode this afternoon.  It doesn't make
editing perl pleasant[1] but it seemed to work fine.  My only comment
is that the default color assigned to `print'/`printf' is awfully
light.  Presumably it will show up with the default background?  It is 
unreadable with grey75.

Should we make this the default perl mode?  What has to be done to
make it default?  Strip the autoloads out of perl-mode.el and put them
in cperl-mode.el?
