    Note that we also saw these problems in these versions but we do NOT
    see them in 19.15. Note also that Fredrik said he already tested some
    patches (probaly equivalent to yours) that didn't help.

I saw things like this in many versions of XEmacs, but only on Suns
and only in executables built with Sparcworks support. I mentioned
these problems when 19.13 or 19.14 was current and didn't get any
confirmation that others had this sort of problem. I my case, the
spewage to my console was so heavy that it often required a reboot.

Anyway, for whatever it's worth, I found a work-around:

 - in most cases, avoid the Sparcworks support -- it tends to make the
   editor less stable overall, in my experience.

 - when using the Sparcworks support, I start up an xterm, run
    $ ttsession -c $SHELL
   in it, and then start the editor up from that shell. Previously, I
   had done things like:
    % ttsession -c $EDITOR # with EDITOR set to XEmacs (of course!)

This is not especially pretty or satisfactory, but since I started
doing things this way, I have not seen the problem.
