I use `goto-line' all the time, but I cannot stand `what-line'.  When
I started with Emacs, getting line numbers automatically displayed was
one of the first things I tried to achieve[1].  For me it is much
easier to glance at the modeline than to use a keybinding to get
`what-line'.

What's wrong with putting flowers on Algernon's grave, anyway?
