I've been accumulating a lot of .saves-* files in my home directory. From
what I can figure, probably only the latest one would be of any value. I
have the following questions:

        - Why doesn't XEmacs rm the old files? Should it?

        - I don't recall ever being prompted by XEmacs to do a
`recover-session'. Is it supposed to? If not, should it?

        - Is there a convenient way to turn this feature off? I think that
          setting `auto-save-list-file-name' to "/dev/null" or `nil' might
do the trick, but it looks like that could only be done after the
startup code has finished setting the name. This also goes
beyond what the average end-user would know how to do. Should
there be a more user-friendly way to handle this?
