I think it's that session mgmnt patch Wm. Perry made. Is there a way
to have both, or is the window manager expected to center those in
this configuration?

I didn't understand what that patch does. Can you please explain?
Should I configure without it, or with it? What window manager
software is it meant to accomodate?

 I'm using XFree86 3.3, X11R6.3, and the Fvwm2 window manager. I
tried the `session manager' application once, but decided that it
doesn't really do anything above what the window manager already takes
care of; I don't need another menu of apps to run. What's it supposed
to do, anyway?
