In general, the first letter of the name, particularly F for File, E
for Edit, O for Options and H for Help, as these seem to have become
pretty standardised.

However, when I posted that comment, I was under the impression that
the accelerator needed to be specified when the menu was created.

I've since discovered relabel-menu-item, which makes predefined
accelerators less important. I still think that it would be a nice
touch, though.

Incidentally, can anyone suggest a good mechanism for calling
relabel-menu-item? The init file is fine for the standard menus, but
for mode-specific menus, it ideally wants to be called whenever a new
menu is added.
