Yes, calc runs on XEmacs fine.  But the problem is that it is a big
package, and there are even more that could be added to XEmacs.
XEmacs size is enormous already, and I don't think we can increase it
without thinking it over.

The proposed packaging system should be a way to go.  Then one could
get a small XEmacs, and yet install packages like calc without fuss.
The same stands for GNU Emacs too, as RMS is probably aware.
