Yep Sofia compiled fine from a new distribution. I think my problems
with beta-8 were because of patching. Since a beta-7 patched to 8
failed and then continued to fail when patched up to 9.

So I can definitely confirm that cc -E now works as $CPP
again. Smashing work folks. :-)
