BEARALERT	1993 JUNE 24	19:00 UT

Big Bear has observed flare activity at the south-
east limb (S10 E90) this morning. Nobeyama Radio Observatory issued a
special alert mail message earlier today warning of a large
active region behind the east limb. It appears that
the region is less than one day behind the optical limb
at this time. The region is producing almost continuous
bright surges. NOAA reported an M-4 X-ray event at 17:30
and an M-1 at 18:15 which correspond to flare events observed
here.

Another region (BBSO #3263) at S13 E60 @ 1900 UT produced an M-9.7 flare at
0716 UT. The magnetic field shows an unusual configuration in that
it has a band of opposite polarity just east of the leader spot and
may also have an opposite polarity spot within its penumbra, but it is
still too close to the limb to be certain.

We expect continued flare activity from both of these regions especially
the region located at S10 E90.
