                   POTENTIAL SATELLITE PROTON EVENT WARNING

                        ISSUED: 05:30 UT, 08 FEBRUARY

                  /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

ATTENTION:

Solar Region 7420 (S07E38) is maintaining a rapid growth rate and is
becoming increasingly complex. Strong energetic flare activity may be
possible from this region over the next several days if growth and
development continues. There is a chance this region may respond with an
energetic proton flare sometime over the next week.

Solar Region 7417 (N16E07) remains large and is also capable of
producing possibly strong energetic flare activity. Although the group is
slowly decaying, it will remain a possible site for proton emissions for the
next several days, at least.

Presently, the probability for proton flaring is approximately 15 to 30
percent over the next 3 to 5 days.

This warning will remain in effect until 16 February when it will be
allowed to expire, unless conditions warrant prior cancellation.
