---------------------------------------------------------------------

The following logs were made with a Kenwood R-5000 receiver connected
to a 400 foot unterminated mini-beverage antenna strung south-to-
north approximately 7 feet above ground. My location is semi-rural
just outside the city limits of Davenport, IA. A key to common SWBC
DX abbreviations used in these loggings is attached at the end of
this file. Unless otherwise noted, all Latin American stations were
logged in Spanish, except for Brazilians which were in Portuguese.

                                        - Don Moore

----------------------------------

4712.4 BOLIVIA: Radio Abaroa 1017-1031 9/5 ballads to 1028 then OM
talk. Gave ID, but too much static to hear it clearly, but
most likely them. "Tropical Band Survey" from DSWCI says this
station signs on at 1100 on Sundays, 1000 other days, which
means the Sunday s/on time is not necessarily always true.

4785 COLOMBIA: Ecos del Combeima 0958-1035 9/4 w/ frequent IDs &
mentions of the Super network. Into folk mx program
"Concierto Colombiano". Good signal. Reactivated yet again.
These guys have gone inactive and then reactivated at least a
dozen times in my 20+ years of DXing! Nice to have them back,
though. One of the best stations for Colombian mx. Strong
        signals, too.

4795 BRAZIL: Rdif Aquidauna 0947-0958 9/4 w/ seemingly canned rel
        pgm, ID w/ freqs @ 0956.

4845 COLOMBIA: CARACOL Bucaramanga 2349-0045 9/5-6 w/ futbol
coverage. Many mentions of Colombia. Believe Colombia vs
Uruguay in World Cup preliminaries. No ID, so presumed
reactivation of this station. Not // main CARACOL outlet on
5075. Poor. Still in w/ futbol an hour later at recheck.

4890 PAPUA NEW GUINEA: NBC Port Moresby 1106-1108 9/6 Presumed the
one w/ YL EE nx. Poor.

4899.87 PERU: UNID 1037-1105 9/6 w/ Peruvian folk mx, anmts. Very
professional sounding & several ads gave phone numbers, so
must be in a departmental capital or other main town.
Possibly mentioned the Depto de San Martin and the Rio Mayo
once. Believe there were several IDs, but nothing very clear.
        Poor and quickly weakening.

4924.6 BOLIVIA: Radio San Miguel 9/6 1010-1035 w/ "Primer
Informativo de San Miguel" ind-depth newscast. One item
about a disagreement between Radio Pio Doce & local military
authorities in Potosi. IDs as both Radio San Miguel and La
Voz de la Selva. Surprisingly good signal - best I've ever
        heard them.

4945 BRAZIL: Radio Progreso, Porto Velho 0955-1022 w/ folk mx, IDs
at 1000, 1008, mentioning 50 kw of power. Fair.

4953.6 PERU: Radio Cultural Amauta 1034-1041 9/5 Presumed the one w/
anmts, prayer, into rel mx. Stn is run by Peruvian Baptists.
        Poor w/ lots of static.

5000 UNID 1043-1101 9/5 Someone here w/ mix of tropical mx and EZL
ballads, occ Span talk, but impossible to understand because
of heavy cochannel WWV. No het at all, so perfectly on 5000
kHz. Perhaps a local MW station mixing w/ YVTO, Caracas,
which was also hrd at the same time?

5995.2 PERU: Radio Melodia 0955-1002 9/5 OM ancr, possible ID, into
        Andean ballads. Very weak.

6576 KOREA, North: Radio Pyongyang 1125-1126 9/5 w/ talk on North
        Korea in EE. Fair.

Subject: Good Peruvian conditions; loggings

Some loggings made this morning. Peruvian reception was better than
usual, so this evening (Friday) & tomorrow morning could be good times
to go after Peruvians & probably Bolivians, too. Peruvians including
Radio Melodia, 5995; Radio Oriente 6190; Radio Tropical 4935; Radio
Atlantida 4790; Radio Tarma, 4775; Radio San Martin 4810; La Voz de la
Selva 4825; and Radio Ancash 4990.9 were all heard with stronger than
usual signals, in addition to the ones specifically logged below.

COLOMBIA: 4975 Ondas del Orteguaza 1022-1037 9/10 Fascinating program
focusing on "medicina naturalista". Ads & promos for several
clinics around Florencia that specialize in this & also gave
daily schedule for a traveling doctor who would be visiting a
number of outlying settlements over the next few weeks. Even
gave some recipes for brewing one's own medicines, although
most of the ingredients were not Spanish words I know -
assumedly local plants. Fun listening! TODELAR anmts &
station IDs at 1033 & into "Amanecer Campesino" program at
1035. Fair signal - a bit weaker than usual for these guys.
        (Don Moore)

MARTINIQUE: 8478.5 FUF 1113-1116 9/10 CW ID mkr. (Don Moore, IA)

PERU: 3194.2 Radio Luz y Vida 1057-1103 9/10 S/on w/ Peruvian anthem,
then SP anmts too weak to make out much from. ID not heard, so
presumed reception. Very poor. (Don Moore)

PERU: 4840 Radio Andahuaylas 1017-1021 9/10 w/ southern Peruvian
huaynos, OM ID. Fair & no sign of Valera. (Don Moore)

PERU: 6203.7 Radio Cuzco 1040-1042 9/10 folk mx & Inca Kola ad. Fair
        (Don Moore)

PHILLIPINES: 8604 DZJ Bulacan Radio 9/8 1158-1202 w/ XW mkr. (Don
        Moore)
