UNA PIRLATA EXTRASENSORIALE

By Dario Monferini - DX-Editor Play DX Italia.

Looking at FIne Tununig 728 edited by Larry Yamron (QTH:351 Churchill
Rd. Pittsburg, PA 15235, USA) We "learn" Mr. Roland Schulze, unfamous
DXer living in Stuttgart, Germany, has been able to listen on 4875 kHz
the 3 February at 0215-0228 with ID "W./MX BRIDGES" RADIO JORNAL DO
BRASIL we are tired to see still idiots tips like this, coming from
R.Schulze edited in good weekly Fine Tuning Bulletin !!! Please stop to
edit such nonsense tips !!! on 4875 kHz just R.DIFUSORA RORAIMA reported
everywhere in the world and in Brasil !!! so why write so "Bovinamente"
(please buy a latin vocabulary) such nonsense tip !!! I visited in RADIO
JOTA BE (JORNAL DO BRASIL) in Rio de Janeiro last November 93 they
operate ONLY over FM band, AM 940 kHz sold to evangelic people, and
shortwave CLOSED definitively from 3 years !!!!.

So please Larry look at what you are compiling, or your good work will
be surely vanished and will become just like "Cacca" (buy an italian
vocabulary, please).........finally both WRTH 94 & Shortwave bulletin in
Sweden LA-Horighetslista don't report on 4875 kHz R.Jornal do Brasil.

No no no. Islamic (Muslim) prayers are always in the language of the
Prophet (i.e. Arabic).

Last evening was a really good night. All signals picked up on a
Watkins-Johnson HF-1000 with a 500 foot inverted "L" connected to the
antenna input. QTH of receiver: Almaden Valley (land of no RFI) here in
San Jose, California. Only QRM is that of wild turkeys, raccoons,
coyotes, owls, and mountain lions, ... and only five minutes from
Nordstroms! Here are some of the signals heard 30 March 1994 (all
frequencies in kHz):

Note: ID's ALWAYS subject to change, but when I am unsure generally try
to say so in remarks. Your suggestions for change always welcome. Sorry
didn't have time to bounce this off tropical experts before I posted
this. I taped all the signals, so could give more details, but does
anyone care?

7254.994 0558 UTC Voice of Nigeria (Ikorodu) Great signal; OM in
English followed by stupid "talky" type song with some bozo (Barry
White) moaning about "his woman". Glad to know the USA is not alone in
the world of junk radio. Signal strength: -75 dBm

5024.987 0603 UTC R. Parakou (Parakou, Benin); OM in French. Mentions
Parakou; -95 dBm; SINPO: 23332

5047.021 0607 UTC Radio Lome (Lome, Togo); Broadcast in French; -95
dBm; best in LSB.

5020.010 0612 UTC Possibly Niger (La Voix du Sahel); -100 dBm

4915.002  0615 UTC Ghana BV Corp (Accra, Ghana) parallel on 3366.000;
boadcast Ain English

4769.963 0629 UTC Voice of Nigeria (Kaduna, Nigeria); broadcast in
English; SINPO: 35333

4991.030 0634 UTC Help! Can't find anything in Passport to confirm an
ID. Possibly Bolivia (R. Animas), or Peru (R. Ancash); best in LSB; they
seemed to have a microphone feedback squeal problem. Think the broadcast
was in Spanish.

9675.000 0658 UTC Hot diggety! Papua New Guinea Karai broadcasting in
English with a listenable signal! Mentioned time was 5 (PM) local. YL
gives weather for Port Moresby; ID with conch (remember Piggy in Lord of
the Flies?); -95 dBm

5019.978 0715 UTC Probably Solomon Islands (Honiara); OM with news in
English concerning Asia and Africa. Time mentioned (local) fits the
Solomons. Broadacast had weird choppy quality.

5075.081 0724 UTC Possibly Caracol Colombia (Bogota, Colombia); two OM
in Spanish; -95 dBm

4845.002 0728 UTC Probably RTV Malaysia (Kajang). Sounded like Muslim
prayer. Went on interminably. Language is possibly Tamil

That's all folks! Have fun and mortgage the house for a WJ HF-1000. You
won't regret it. Stupid sig follows:

Hi folks:

Heard what was possibly a broadcast from Burma on 3 April 1994 between
1304 and 1312 UTC. Signal was on a frequency of 4725.034. OM in monolgue
(Chinese??!). I certainly was getting nice reception from Chinese
stations at that time. Wonder what you think. Please advise.
