Subject: weekend logs

Here are some of my logs from the Boston Area DXer's DXpedition this

past weekend. The BAD guys had two sites for the DXpedition, one in

Vermont and one in New Hampshire. My logs are from the New Hampshire

site. Tropical band propagation was only fair and noisy, despite very

good forecast and A and K indicies.

Many thanks to Manuel Rodriguez Lanza for the tip re V of Strouz

on 4300, in The Radio News #10. Heard this time ID'ing as V of

Kurdish Iran, or something like that (no English ID, only Farsi).

Anyone have a QSL address?

My God! I actually got to sit in front of the radio this weekend!

And here's some of what I heard!

4759.97, ELWA, Monrovia, Liberia, 2057-2102, 25 Nov, weak but

listenable, church service in EG with hymns, ID @ 2100. Good to hear

this station finally back on the air!

4769.95, R Kaduna, Kaduna, Nigeria, 2103-2116, 25 Nov, poor to fair,

news in EG about actions of new Nigerian govt., explanation of why

military govt. is good.

4835.67, RTV du Mali, Bamako, Mali, 2139-2145, 28 Nov, good,

soukous-influenced music, //4782.89 poor.

4870.01, R. Benin, Cotonou, Benin, 2156-2203, 28 Nov, good after

tuning away from heavy RTTY QRM on USB, man talking in FR, ID @ 2201,

into highlife music (*really* highlife, not just used as a generic

description of African music as I see so often in the loggings

columns.... :-( )

4915, Ghana Broadcasting Corp., Accra, Ghana, 2206-2219, 28 Nov, vy

good, international news in EG followed by music, into program in

vernacular language @ 2215, many IDs throughout newscast.

5040.03, La Voz del Upano, Macas, Ecuador, 2315-2359, 28 Nov, vy

good, futbol play-by-play in SP, ID @ 2345(?).

Haven't been listening much for a while, so I took the opportunity

to visit my old friends the afternoon Africans on 60 meters. No

real unusual catches, although it was nice to hear ELWA back on.

Lotsa good music. I love it.
