Acting on a tip from a friend, I called 1-800-FLIPOFF and found they had
changed its message with some new information. The interesting new stuff
is the third paragraph below, but since I'm an obsessive and have time on
my hands I've transcribed the entire damn thing verbatim ;)

Hey pinball players, happy new year and welcome to the PAPA hotline.
The PAPA4 International Pinball Championships are just around the corner.
They run from February 4 through February 6 at the Park Central Hotel,
55th St. and 7th Ave New York City. Qualifying rounds are Friday February 4
from 11am to 1am and Saturday February 5 from 10am to midnight. All entries
must be in by 11pm on Saturday. Sunday's finals begin at 9am.

There is competition in 6 divisions: A, B, C, doubles, juniors and womens.
All single entries and reentries are $15. All junior entries are $10.
All doubles are $10 per player, $20 per team.

You may enter any division you wish and you can enter multiple divisions
under two important conditions. One, you must move up in division, not down.
For example you cannot enter B after you enter A. Two, you must declare
yourself in one division at 4PM on Saturday. if you have qualified in more
than one, you must decide which one you will continue in. PAPA reserves the
right to bump players to the next division if they have demonstrated
greater ability.

In the qualifying rounds the machines are JD, IJ, JP, TZ, SF2, Wipeout,
CFTBL, and TFTC, Final round machines are ST:TNG, World Challenge Soccer,
Popeye, and the world premiere of Tommy. Machines are subject to change.

At PAPA4 there will be special games like two minute drills, one ball and
scotch doubles. There will also be a practice bank open all weekend at
at arcade prices.

Special room rates are available at the Park Central. Doubles are $89, Quads
are $99. To receive the special rates, call 1-800-346-1359 and mention PAPA.

Finally, on Sunday Night February 6, PAPA and the cast of Tommy are hosting a
benefit party with unlimited pinball, food and dancing. The party costs $25
and begins at 6PM right after the A division Finals. Please buy tickets from
